Mail-order Madness!
Well, I am officially crazy. Despite doing practically nothing with the models that I currently have, I just recieved a big order of yet more Skorne stuff. The Trollblood playing co-worker has a guy he orders all his PP game stuff from, and we went in on an order together. Everything is 37% off retail, so even with the international shipping we came out ahead. Especially since we split the shipping cost.
I feel a bit bad, circumventing my LGS like this, but they never get anything new in. Never for PP that is. They get boxes of GW stuff delivered to them that are the size of the back of an 18-wheeler. There’s a lone blister of two Praetorian Swordsmen that’s been sitting on the rack ever since I can remember. No one is ever going to buy them. Why? Cause they don’t have the boxed set to attach them to. Well, I might actually buy them now since I finally have a boxed set.
The order I put in was pretty damn big. But I rationalized it to myself by saying that a) it was all 37% off, and b) I won’t need anything else for quite a while. That last one is a complete lie, as any miniature gamer knows, but I’ve become quite good at fooling myself. My order was as follows:
- a box of Immortals,
- 2 boxes of Praetorian Swordsmen (which allows me to field 2 minimum sized units or one big unit),
- 2 blisters of Cataphract Cetrati (bringing my unit up to full size)
- 2 blisters of Paingiver Beast Handlers (again, a full-sized unit),
- a Basilisk Krea,
- a Cyclops Shaman,
- an Extoller Soulward, and
- Saxon Orrik.
All together, including shipping costs, that whole order only cost me 16,000 yen (aproximately $160.00 US). Totaling up everything that I now own for Skorne, I have one thousand, six hundred, and fifty six points worth of the ‘red menace’. That is quite possibly the largest force I’ve had for a miniature game ever. Well, perhaps not. I did have a shit load of Dark Eldar stuff for WH40K before I stopped playing, but this is definately the biggest force that I have amassed in less than 6 months. As I said, it’s madness. Especially since I am giving them all custom bases. That’s 26 more 30mm bases and 4 more 40mm bases that I have to prepare… Sigh. I haven’t even started painting these guys yet. Over 95% of the models aren’t even primed for God’s sake!
